Tickleberry run
Just a quick reminder of The Okanagan Valley Miata Clubs 6th annual "Tickleberry run" this Saturday April 22. The weather should be warm and the blossoms will be out down south. Time to work the cobwebs out of the Miata! Last year 17 cars participated.
We will leave from the Hotel Eldorado at 9:30 am. We will drive south and have a lunch break in Osoyoos. Restaurant or pack a lunch, your choice. Our drive will include a few excursions off the main road & Anarchist Mountain. We'll stop at Tickleberries on our way home. This is an all day event. I expect we will return to Kelowna by around 4 or 5 pm.
We will stop in Penticton at the first restaurant once we cross the bridge. I expect we should be there by around 10:30. If you plan to meet us in Penticton, please email me to advise me you will be waiting for us. We will stop there for 10 minutes, but only if I know people will be waiting.
I can be emailed at mortgages@717-MRTG.ca

OK British Car Club reving up
The Okanagan British Car Club is once again holding our Thursday Night Autocross Series at McCurdy Corner. They start tonight (Apr 20) and run every Thursday night until September 7th.
When?
Registration is open at 5:15 pm and the drivers meeting starts at 5:45 pm. Please note, no late registrations will be allowed.
Where?
In the parking lot at McCurdy Corner in front of the The Brick, Grand 10 Theatres and Freddie’s Brew Pub.
Who should attend?
• Everyone, because we all need to improve our driving skills.
• Your family members, so that you feel more comfortable when you drive with them.
• Grads or any kids (with parental consent) over the age of 16 with a driver’s license. This is the best driver training you can give your children. The concern over them street racing diminishes dramatically, because they’re able to release their driving ambitions safely and legally.
• They also learn to drive well in a controlled environment, on the track instead of the street. My daughter started at the age of 16 and is now an amazing driver.
• Car owners who haven’t had the opportunity to fully enjoy their cars.
Why you should attend?
• TireTrends.com & Invis mortgage broker Matt Scaife are sponsoring a Novice series. The best five finishes out of the first ten events are counted in the Novice Series. The top novice will win a gift certificate to use towards the purchase of new tires at www.TireTrends.com.
• To become more competent and comfortable in your car and to learn it’s limits.
• Because you always thought you were a good driver and now want to prove it.
• To win a year end trophy.
What do I need?
• Thirty five dollars for club membership and weekly entry fees of $15. Punch cards reduce the cost.
• A car with no loose objects in it.
• Extra air pressure in the tires, approximately 5 pounds higher than normal.
You can get more information on autocross in the Okanagan at www.OkanaganRacing.com or www.okmiataclub.com/phpBB2
For information on how you can be involved you can contact Invis mortgage broker Matt Scaife at mortgages@717-MRTG.ca or phone 717-MRTG (6784).

Tires for sale
I am replacing my Michelin Pilot SX-GT 195/50 R 15 82V tires- original on my 10AE. They have less than 20,000 km on them. Is anyone in the club interested in these? Best offer takes them.

Looking for a Miata to buy
I'm looking for a mid 90s Miata and wonder whether any of you members might have one for sale. Any suggestions how I might go about buying one locally. Feel free to pass this on to any member who might have one for sale. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Starter problem (will not disengage properly)
YOU MUST DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY FIRST TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOURSELF AND THE CAR. Make sure you have the anti theft code before you disconnect.
1. Remove starter from the engine flexible drive, and 14mm socket will be helpful 3 bolts on the back.
2. Pry the starter gear out to expose the Bendix, clean thoroughly with solvent and tooth brush.
3. Lubricate gear shaft with 3 in one oil then reinstall.
Savings $245 for a new one or $42 for a kit.

Do you hear water sloshing around and can't find where its coming from!
Its a common problem to end up with water in your rocker panels. There are drain holes that sometimes get clogged which you need to check periodically and keep clear. Check where the jack hooks to the frame rail. (You can find it in you owners manual if your not sure.) Each side of where the jack hits the frame rail is where the drain holes for the rocker panel are located. There is a front and rear location for the jack. Use an open paper clip and wiggle it around until the drain unclogs.
