Head For The Hills Tour

With temperatures in the mid 20s and not a cloud in the sky, the weather could not have been better for zooming. Thirteen cars met at Lions Park in Rutland for the mountain run up Highway 33 to Big white and Beaverdell.
The side trip to Big White took us 20 kilometres up the mountain where we reached an elevation of just under 1800 metres (6000 feet). After stopping for a few pictures against a backdrop of pines and mountains we had a look at an incredible 10,000 square-foot post-and-beam log home under construction nearby. Then it was back down the fabulous twists and turns of Big White Road to Highway 33.
We made one more quick pit stop near Carmi before reaching Beaverdell and our lunch stop at the Tamarack Lodge.
The restaurant was ready for us with mountains of delicious home made lasagne, caesar salad and garlic toast set up in the separate dance hall at the back of the building. After lunch we headed for home back down Highway 33.
