Backroads To Stemwinder

Tour Leader: Len
It was a perfect day for zooming and fifteen cars came out to drive the scenic circle route through Penticton, Kaleden, Keremeos, Hedley, Allison Lake and Aspen Grove.
The run will took us along Highway 97 to Penticton and a brief stop at the marina parking lot at Skaha Lake. From there we followed the twisting East Side Road around Skaha Lake through Okanagan Falls to Kaleden where we slowly meander through this picturesque rural community ending up at Kaleden Beach for a picnic lunch.
Then it was on to Highway 3A passing by Yellow Lake, Olalla and Keremeos (the fruit stand capital of the world) before taking in a brief Kodak moment at the historic Mascot Mine in Hedley, which closed in 1949.
We then made a stop in Stemwinder Provincial Park just past Hedley before cruising the Old Hedley Road along the twists and turns of the Similkameen River. The road led us to the north end of Princeton where we join Highway 5A northbound to our final stop at Allison Lake.
From there it was a short drive to the Okanagan Connector and home.
