Wild West Miata Round Up
Club Miata Northwest event
Friday, June 22 to Sunday, July 24, 2012
Tour Leader: Len
Despite the unpleasant forecast we put the tops down for our 8:30 departure on Friday morning. Nine cars started from West Kelowna and we picked up two more on our way to the picnic lunch stop at Centennial Beach in Osoyoos. No rain.
We crossed the border shortly after noon and took a pleasant side trip along the Loomis-Oroville Road by Palmer and Spectacle Lakes reconnecting with Highway 97 near Tonasket. After a brief stop in Omak we arrived in Winthrop around 4:30. No rain.
After settling in at the River's Edge Resort we met up with the Club Miata Northwest crew for a pleasant evening indoors, with rain, lightning and thunder as the backdrop.
With more overcast skies Saturday morning, 22 cars followed our CMNW leader John through some beautiful backroads around the Methow Valley, ending up with the panoramic views of Sun Mountain Lodge. No rain. In the evening we got the two clubs together for an old fashioned barbecue.
On the drive home on Sunday a few went shopping in Omak and others chose to sightsee the Loomis-Oroville Road. Totally by coincidence we all met up at the Duty Free shop at the border.
Despite rain clouds shadowing us for the weekend we had the tops down the whole time.
