Five Miata's participated the second annual Chicken, Cheese & Lunch Run to Omak, starting from West Kelowna. The day was beautiful and sunny with a high temperature of 33 degrees.
We made our usual Penticton stop then continued along 97 to Green Lake Road just before the Okanagan Falls bridge. We zipped up the hill and around the hairpin curves to Willowbrook Road and before continuing at a modest pace to Oliver. We then crossed Highway 97 and travelled along Black Sage Road taking in the beauty of the vineyards and the valley. Crossing the border went quickly before continuing south down Highway 97 to Omak.
Our lunch stop at the Corner Bistro was very good with area fruits incorporated into the dishes. After lunch one couple bid us goodbye and continued on a mini vacation to Wenatchee. The rest of us shopped at the many stores of Omak and filled our trunks with goodies. Some of us were entertained by the expected Walmartians.
Our return trip took us on the Loomis-Orville Road which is always a treat. We stopped for a break at the peaceful Palmer Lake boat launch. We continued on to Orville and had a no hassle return into Canada. Our only disappointment of the day was arriving late to Tickleberry's as they close at 5:00 pm during the fall.
