Kootenay Kar Run

Tour Leaders: Casey & Lori
The Miata's met in Vernon's Polson Park, and there were cars from Washington, Keremeo's, Summerland, Kelowna, and Vernon. The weather was overcast with a bit of rain, but the tops were down. It was a short wait for the Needles ferry and all of us were able to board, then on to Nakusp.
We all had a great lunch at the Leland hotel and afterwards we did some grocery shopping for a BBQ supper that night. A quick check in at the Halcyon Hot Springs Resort, and then off to the hot pools for a relaxing dip. The cabins were good with some getting unexpected upgrades. Casey and Lori hosted a eat what you brought BBQ at their cabin, and Casey supplied the music.
Saturday morning everyone was on their own to explore. We met at the designated time in Nakusp to continue our journey to Nelson via New Denver and Kaslo. A highlight was meeting up with the Porsche club in New Denver and experiencing some of their rude driving on the twisty BC 31A. It was washed out and slow in a few places, but a great zoom-zoom choice. Lunch was at the Rosewood Cafe in Kaslo where again we had time to scout out this wonderful old town in a beautiful setting. After lunch we wound our way into Nelson and stayed at the beautiful Prestige Inn along the waterfront. Many dined and had a memorable evening at the Hume Hotel.
Sunday many individuals left on their own taking various routes home, and a small group continued to Christina Lake for the night at the New Horizon Motel.
Monday the remainder of the group continued on to Grand Forks for a Russian lunch, then headed home.
Many thanks to Casey and Lori for organizing this wonderful tour, their explanations and directions were first class.
