Backroads To Bavaria XIII
Club Miata Northwest event
Friday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5, 2014
Tour Leaders: Jadine Leclaire, Alison Jamieson
One car from the OVMC, Jadine and Alison, made the trek to Leavenworth, Washington for Backroads To Bavaria. We left Kelowna in brilliant sunshine and drove south on Highway 97 to Omak where we had a lovely lunch at the Peace Cafe. We then continued our scenic drive along the Columbia River past Lake Chelan to Leavenworth.
The host hotel, the Enzian Inn, was a great place to stay. We enjoyed wine by the pool and hot tub before heading to Gustav's to meet the other participants. They were from Idaho, Oregon and areas around northwest Washington. There was only one other car from Canada, a father and son from Victoria. In total there were 25 cars. The main topic of conversation was the Topless Sun Run.... they wanted to know all about our event next May! We all went to the Post Office Friday night to celebrate the beginning of October Fest. The Post Office is a Karaoke bar so needless to say we all had a lot of laughs.
For the run on Saturday, Heather (the organizer) and her committee planned a great route up the ski hill to a lake. Alison and I chose to shop in the afternoon and miss the afternoon run, and we had a great time watching the parade and shopping in the Bavarian village. We all connected for the banquet in the evening which was wonderful. Afterwards some went to the Octoberfest beer gardens while some of us chose wine in the hot tub.
The next day, we got our golf fix at the putting course across the street from the hotel. The drive home was also spectacular as the weather continued to be wonderful. We highly recommend this trip... 5 stars from us!
