Osoyoos Model Railroad Run
Sunday, July 6, 2014
Tour Leader: Bill
On July 6th a convoy of 14 cars made the trek down to Osoyoos via Green Mountain Road and the back roads of Oliver to visit the Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad.
The railroad was created by Poul and Ulla Pederson and was built with the help of their daughter Lotte and her husband Joe. The railroad currently occupies 4000 sq. ft. of space, and has 2 kilometres of track. Forty five computer controlled locomotives run through a detailed European style landscape with hundreds of buildings and 23,000 little people, each hand painted by Ulla! Ulla is wheelchair bound with rheumatic arthritis, and she works on assembling the buildings and painting as therapy. A truly remarkable woman! The railroad is well worth the time and effort to visit. The attention to detail is mind boggling!
Along the way we enjoyed lunch on the patio of the Osoyoos Golf Club. Afterwards, each of us found our own paths home.
