Lunar Eclipse Run

Eleven Miatas met at the Post Haus Pub in Rutland for the run to Big White, the perfect setting for the evening's rare lunar event. From the Feathertop view point we witnessed a total lunar eclipse with the Monashee Mountain Range as the backdrop. What made this event even more special is the eclipse happened to coincide with a supermoon. A supermoon is a full moon that occurs when the moon is at its closest proximity to earth, and therefore appears larger and brighter. A total lunar eclipse happens on average every 2.5 years, and supermoons occur about every 13 months, but the total lunar eclipse of a supermoon is extremely rare. The last such eclipse happened in 1982, and the next won't occur until 2033. After the viewing it was time for a warm-up of coffee and dessert (the legendary Apple Cookie!) back at the Post Haus Pub.
