Drive to Big White

The morning dawned with a wee nip in the air, but that didn't stop 10 hardy souls from driving their Miatas to our meeting place at Black Mountain Elementary School. We jockeyed for road side parking with the soccer moms and dads and consulted the weather forecast on our phones! First in line and ready to go were Marnie and Joan in their smashing grey MX-5. Andrew and Avril Adamson, Marilyn and Andy MacDonald, Gary and Linda Penrose, Jadine and Bill; all ready for our adventure to Big White.
Tops down and jackets zipped up we zoomed, zoomed along Hwy 33 up to the Big White turnoff. A very different landscape without the snow. Instead, we slowed for cattle grazing along the roadway. Black Angus fattening themselves for the slaughter house in the near future. We arrived at the Globe for an early lunch. The corn chowder was a big hit. After lunch, Jadine dragged everyone on a little walk around the village and then down the hill to the Plaza chair run where Joan took some great photos of the magnificent scenery and the people! Apparently the little walk was deemed a hike because of the hill climbing! With some exercise to work off the food consumed at lunch, the sun shining brightly and slightly warmer temperatures, we climbed back into our cars and headed down the hill to our homes The trip was a hoot!
Already looking forward to a similar trip next year, but perhaps in late August or early September when there is more warmth and dryer roads.
