The weather forecast for Saturday was not looking great, but it turned out to be cool and sunny. At 10 AM ten Miatas headed up Hwy. 33 to start the weekend adventure. After a brief stop at the Beaverdell General Store we pulled in at the very old Rock Creek Hotel for leisurely lunch.
We then took a right up Hwy. 3 over the Anarchist summit (wonder what the background of the name is), enjoying the viewpoint before stopping in at Moon Curser winery. We next went to Adega on 45th winery before heading to the Walnut Beach Resort in Osoyoos. Our band of Miatphiles enjoyed the afternoon swimming, relaxing in the hot tub or having a beverage on the patio.
That evening, everyone packed into Bruce and Donna’s room for a joint dinner. The guys barbequed the meat out on the patio grills while the ladies laid out a smorgasbord that would have fed three times as many.
Sunday morning we had a great breakfast on the patio at Smitty’s and spent some time in the famous Home Hardware. Then it was off to Oliver for the wine festival which featured over 50 wineries. Unfortunately the drivers had to limit their tastings but did manage a few. Everyone departed on their own time and headed home. It was a great weekend with wonderful people and great fall weather.
