On Sunday, August 13, Garry and Debbie led a group of 22 club members in 11 cars on a circle tour to Okanagan Centre, Carr's Landing and the Vernon area. Although we started out with a few sprinkles of rain when leaving Kelowna, the weather quickly improved with sunshine, moderate temperatures and virtually smoke-free skies for the rest of the day. The beauty of Okanagan Lake was on full display as we drove through Okanagan Centre and the plentiful speed bumps along the lakeshore slowed us down enough to enable even the drivers to enjoy the scenery. The views of Carr's Landing were at their best, the twisty drive through Commonage Road past Predator Ridge was breathtaking and the rest stop at Kin Beach on Lakeshore Road in Vernon provided a time for lots of socializing & necessary potty break. What a happy gang of Miata enthusiasts we were!
Once 'mounted' again into our trusty Miatas, we made our way up Tronson Rd. ,along Bella Vista Rd., across Highway 97 and onto Highway 6. With a few more Coldstream side-roads behind us, we stopped for an enjoyable lunch at Alexander's Beach Pub on Kalamalka Lake.
More socializing and happiness and we were back onto Highway 97 turning off at Pelmawash Parkway to enjoy the drive on the east side of Woods Lake on Oyama Road. We waved goodbye to one another with wide smiles on our faces, testament to a day of fun and friendship.
