Could we have asked for better weather?! After a bit of an early morning sprinkle, the skies cleared up and the sun came out for our inaugural Tickleberry's Run for the 2017 season. There was an unprecedented number of cars that showed up for the day. 28 cars left the SOEC in Penticton and travelled along Green Mountain Road to the Yellow Lake rest area. Unbelievably, there were no horses or other wildlife on that stretch and very little traffic. Along the White Lake Road, we did find a number of potholes which made the drive a bit of a slalom event. A comment was heard that the road was like a golf course with all the holes. Ask Casey about finding his bump stops on his suspension!
We did make it safely to Lion's Park in Oliver and were able to park all our cars in the parking lot. The sun stayed out for our picnic lunch stop even though it got a bit breezy. Not quite suntan weather yet. After lunch we split up a bit. Some headed off to the River Stone Estate Winery and the rest headed directly to Tickleberry's. That completed, we were on our own to head back home. What a great day!!!!
As far as I am concerned the visit to the River Stone Winery was a really good idea, even if some of the 19 cars got a bit lost (late in arriving). My bad, as a leader: does this mean that I'm off the hook for any further leading duties? Spoke with Ted Kane at the winery, they enjoyed having us there and would welcome any of us back again.
Speaking with several participants and seeing various emails post-event the overall experience of the run appears to have been very positive and enjoyable.
